Client-Provider Interaction (CPI) Subcommittee

Outputs:

  1. Identified the critical components and elements of client provider interactions in FP/RH settings through existing research and field-experience. The result of the subcommittee's research review was a state-of-the-art CPI guidance paper which was included in the Technical Guidance and Competence (TG/C) Subcommittee's publication of Recommendations for Updating Selected Practices in Contraceptive Use: Volume II, 1997.
  2. Drafted the a paper entitled "Creating the Organizational Context for Positive Client-Provider Interactions: a Leadership Challenge" which identified the organizational changes needed to support sound CPI.

Activities to come:

  1. Identify best training practices to foster good CPI at the clinic and outreach level. A guidance paper on this topic is in progress.
  2. Make policy and programmatic recommendations for CPI.
  3. Advise organizations wishing to implement these recommendations at the field level.
  4. Review CA's and other organizations' materials on counseling and other aspects of CPI.
