Notes:
- 150 providers trained in traditional 6-week IUD course (control group) were compared to 150 providers (study group) trained in a 2-week course using competency-based training with anatomic models
- The graph indicates the cumulative percentage of participants in both groups who achieved competency by the end of the course. The results of the study showed that 70% of study group participants achieved competency after practice on only one client and 97% after three clients. By contrast, only 18% of the control group participants achieved competency after completing practice on three clients, and 38% after practice on five clients. Even after practice on eight client acceptors, only 71% of the control group participants had achieved competency.
