The Facilitator's Manual "Building Bridges for Quality: A Community Mobilization to Improve Quality of Care and Community Health" presents the community action cycle applied to a quality improvement initiative led by community and health providers perspective. It offers the various methodological steps, activities and tools to implement a Community Defined Quality initiative in rural settings.
An interesting component of the "Bridges" Manual is the accompanying Multi-Media CD ROM where users can find the necessary tools to run the proposed methodological steps. It also includes Guides and Training Manuals such as (1) the "Adult Education and Facilitating Techniques" which is recommended for building competencies among members of a team who will lead an initiative such as "Bridges", (2) "City Hall Meetings: Building Consensus among Stakeholders, Authorities, Leaders and Community Members" offering the methodological steps and principles applied to organize cabildos where commitment toward quality and community health is expressed publicly; and (3) Dialogo de Saberes Kit, a popular education set of materials that includes 32 cue cards to promote intercultural communication and healthy behaviors. Finally, the CD-ROM offers a wide range of communication materials utilized during the implementation of the Bridges initiative such as radio infospots, print material for providers and clients, and copies of the Mobilizer Newsletter in Spanish. All the materials listed have printing capabilities through PDF and jpg files.
