Reintroducing the IUD in Kenya

Summary: In 2001, encouraged by recent global findings on the safety of IUDs, including research conducted in Kenya on the safety of IUDs for HIV-positive women, the Kenya MoH, in collaboration with several other local and international partners, launched an initiative to promote increased client choice and a balanced and sustainable family planning program by reintroducing the IUD into the Kenyan method mix.  This case-study describes this reintroduction process.
